	Number of Required AAPC CEUs The number of AAPC CEUs that are required each year depends on how many credentials you hold. One Credential Two Credentials Three Credentials Four Credentials Five or More Credentials 1 Credential held through the AAPC 18 AAPC CUEs per year (Due every two years for a total of 36 CEUs) If the credential held is a CIRCC then 24 of 36 medical coding CEUs due must be intervential radiology or cardiovascular related. If the credential held is a CPMA then 24 of the 36 medical coding CEUs due must be related to topics covered under this credential. If the credential held is one of the following specialty credentials then 16 of the 36 medical coding CEUs due must be related to that specific specialty. Specialty Credentials through the AAPC CASCC; CANPC; CCC; CCVTC; CPCD; CEDC; CEMC; CFPC; CGIC; CHOC; CGSC; CIMC; COBGC; COSC; CENTC; CPEDC; CPRC; CRHC; CUC 2 Credentials held through the AAPC 24 AAPC CEUs per year (Due every two year for a total of 48 CEUs) If one of the credentials held is a CIRCC then 24 of 48 medical coding CEUs due must be intervential radiology or cardiovascular related. If one of the credentials held is a CPMA then 24 of the 48 medical coding CEUs due must be related to topics covered under this credential. For each specialty credential held 16 of the 48 medical coding CEUs due must be related to that specific credential. Specialty Credentials through the AAPC CASCC; CANPC; CCC; CCVTC; CPCD; CEDC; CEMC; CFPC; CGIC; CHOC; CGSC; CIMC; COBGC; COSC; CENTC; CPEDC; CPRC; CRHC; CUC 3 Credentials held through the AAPC 30 AAPC CEUs per year (Due every two years for a total of 60 CEUs) If one of the credentials held is a CIRCC then 24 of 60 medical coding CEUs due must be intervential radiology or cardiovascular related. If one of the credentials held is a CPMA then 24 of the 60 medical coding CEUs due must be related to topics covered under this credential. For each specialty credential held 16 of the 60 medical coding CEUs due must be related to that specific credential. Specialty Credentials through the AAPC CASCC; CANPC; CCC; CCVTC; CPCD; CEDC; CEMC; CFPC; CGIC; CHOC; CGSC; CIMC; COBGC; COSC; CENTC; CPEDC; CPRC; CRHC; CUC 4 Credentials held through the AAPC 36 AAPC CEUs per year (Due every two years for a total of 72 CEUs) If one of the credentials held is a CIRCC then 24 of 72 medical coding CEUs due must be intervential radiology or cardiovascular related. If one of the credentials held is a CPMA then 24 of the 72 medical coding CEUs due must be related to topics covered under this credential. For each specialty credential held 16 of the 72 medical coding CEUs due must be related to that specific credential. Specialty Credentials through the AAPC CASCC; CANPC; CCC; CCVTC; CPCD; CEDC; CEMC; CFPC; CGIC; CHOC; CGSC; CIMC; COBGC; COSC; CENTC; CPEDC; CPRC; CRHC; CUC 5 or More Credentials held through the AAPC 40 AAPC CEUs per year (Due every two years for a total of 80 CEUs) If one of the credentials held is a CIRCC then 24 of 80 medical coding CEUs due must be intervential radiology or cardiovascular related. If one of the credentials held is a CPMA then 24 of the 80 medical coding CEUs due must be related to topics covered under this credential. For each specialty credential held 16 of the 80 medical coding CEUs due must be related to that specific credential. Specialty Credentials through the AAPC CASCC; CANPC; CCC; CCVTC; CPCD; CEDC; CEMC; CFPC; CGIC; CHOC; CGSC; CIMC; COBGC; COSC; CENTC; CPEDC; CPRC; CRHC; CUC	Dual Organizations Some individuals choose to hold both the CPC and CCS credential. These credentials are offered by two different organizations, AAPC and AHIMA. Some CEUs are approved by both the AAPC and AHIMA while others may only be approved by one of the organization. If you hold both a CPC and CCS credential be aware of this and select CEU vendors appropriately. CPC CEUs The CPC credential is the most popular among AAPC certifications. This credentials requires 18 AAPC CEUs each year. CEUs are only submitted every other year though. This means that every second year the CPC holder must submit a total of 36 AAPC CEUs.
